majors is required. The Mathematics Department teaches
courses that service science, business, education, and
computer studies students, among others; and all candidates
must be committed to working effectively with the broad
range of student interests and abilities this encompasses.
Preference will be given to candidates with interests in the
use of technology in teaching Mathematics as well as
computer studies, interdisciplinary teaching, and directing
independent studies of various sorts (including
undergraduate research). Responsibilities include teaching a
minimum of 12 credit hours (usually three four-hour courses)
per semester, continuing scholarly activity (broadly
interpreted), advising students, college committee service,
and teaching as needed in the evening continuing education
