strengths in geochemistry, mineralogy, Quaternary geology,
paleontology, and geodynamics. Creative and energetic
candidates will apply quantitative analytical techniques to
investigate near-surface processes. The successful applicant
will establish an independent, externally-funded research
program and will teach effectively at undergraduate and
graduate levels. The Department is an expanding, dynamic
unit with an emphasis on integrative research approaches (

laboratories for aqueous, organic, stable isotope, and
mineral-water interface geochemistry, mineralogy, exXex-ray
crystallography, Quaternary geochronology, and
sedimentology. Additional analytical facilities (e.g., high
resolution transmission electron microscopy) are available
in UIC’s Research Resources Center ( http://www.rrc.uic.edu

National Laboratory (e.g., Advanced Photon Source) and the
Field Museum of Natural History. Applicants must have a PhD
