October 30, 2005 Responsibilities : The postdoc will direct
a project to design a custom microarray chip to discover and
analyze single nucleotide polymorphisms in lettuce; develop
the LABORATORY procedures to extract RNA from 100s of
lettuce lines; develop the hybridization conditions for the
microarray chip; direct the bioinformatics team to design
the microarray, and identify, analyze and validate
polymorphisms; generate and analyze the mapping data for
10,000s of genes; direct the database team to organize and
present information on the Compositae Genome website;
supervise interns to aid in data generation and analysis;
present, write and publish manuscripts on the project. Other
requirements include: Ph.D in Plant Science, Genetics or
Molecular Biology. The candidate must have a strong
background in plant genetics, molecular biology and be
comfortable with manipulating and analyzing large datasets.
