Chief Medical Officer, HealthPlus - Flint, Michigan

Witt/Kieffer has been retained by HealthPlus to assist in their executive recruitment efforts for a Chief Medical Officer. Based in Flint, Michigan, Health Plus is a licensed not-for-profit HMO providing coverage to nearly 250,000 members.

With the goal of providing excellent quality care, HealthPlus also strives to attain the number one ranking by NCQA in the state for all of its products. As Witt/Kieffer begins the recruitment efforts to seek a thoughtful, creative leader to support the goals of HealthPlus, we wanted to reach out to physician executive leaders like yourself seeking either your personal interest or confidential nominations for this role. In addition, HealthPlus is also receptive to an individual who might be interested in this position on an interim basis while the recruitment process is underway.

As a key advisor and direct report to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Medical Officer has responsibility for a total staff of 125 and all of medical management and pharmacy programs. The ideal candidate is a bright, data driven individual who has three years of clinical experience and five to seven years of managed care experience. The successful candidate is a MD or DO with board certification in an ABMS recognized specialty. He/she will have an active and current Michigan medical license without encumbrances or the ability to acquire a license. The ideal Chief Medical Officer candidate will be a goal-oriented leader who possesses an easy-going personality and puts the team first. Chief Information Officer, CalOptima - Orange, CA

Witt/Kieffer has been retained to identify and evaluate candidates for the position of Chief Information Officer for CalOptima located in Orange, California.

CalOptima is a public managed care agency functioning as a county-organized health system that administers health insurance programs for low income families, children, seniors, and persons with disabilities in Orange County, California. The Plan serves over 435,000 Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and Dual-Eligible Medicare beneficiaries. It is a community-based public agency dedicated to enhancing the delivery of health care services for those they serve. The mission of CalOptima is to provide its members with access to high quality medical services delivered in a cost-effective and compassionate manner.

CalOptima currently has 567 employees, more than $1.4 billion in annual operating revenues and provides coverage to one in seven county residents and almost a third of the county's children. CalOptima's Medi-Cal program received the 2012 Honorable Mention Quality Award from the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) for outstanding performance in quality. In September 2012, CalOptima received accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and is one of only eight Medi-Cal plans in the state to receive this accreditation. The plan ranks fourth out of 25 plans in California.

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) position is an exceptional opportunity to join one of the top health plans in the nation. The CIO will be part of a newly built senior leadership team and will report to the Chief Operating Officer. CalOptima seeks an accomplished IS executive to provide the strategic and operational leadership for the technology enterprise. The new CIO will develop and lead a high performing, customer service oriented IS organization that works in concert with the business, meeting its needs and supporting the mission of CalOptima.

A bachelor's degree, preferably in information systems, business or healthcare related field, is required. A master's degree in health, business, or public administration, or related field is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be an experienced healthcare IT leader, such as a Chief Information Officer or # 2, preferably in a managed care organization. HMO, Medi-Cal/Medicaid and insurance experience and/or related government or public service experience highly preferred. The CIO must be a strategic leader with a track record of building and leading robust IT organizations.

CFO, California health plan - Bakersfield, CA

Kern Health Systems (KHS) is a publicly-sponsored, not-for-profit, managed care health plan created to serve the people of Kern County. Operating since 1995, KHS is a thriving, successful local initiative health plan with $232 million in annual operating revenues, over 300 employees, a strong balance sheet and significant reserves. Committed to serving vulnerable populations of low-income families, the plan has more than 126,000 members in Kern County. With healthcare reform and Medicaid expansion, they expect an additional 40,000 to 50,000 enrollees in 2014.

KHS maintains a dominant market share with over 70 percent of eligible Medicaid enrollees selecting the KHS option over the HealthNet alternative plan. The organization is currently housed in an attractive and fully owned office complex in southwestern Bakersfield and has a strong cadre of motivated long term personnel.

Reporting to the CEO, the CFO is responsible for the management of KHS's overall financial operations including, Financial Planning and Analyses, Finance and Accounting, Procurement, Investment Management, and monitoring of health network financial compliance. The ideal candidate will be:

* A seasoned executive who has successfully managed the finance functions of a complex organization
* A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience within the health care service delivery industry with particular experience in a Medicaid, Medicare or commercial HMO
* Direct experience with capitation and the fiscal tools required in administering this technique effectively and knowledgeable of actuarial dynamics of a broadening base-of-business and the importance of accurate projections of IBNR issues
* An MBA and/or CPA are desired

Bakersfield is the largest city in the southern San Joaquin Valley with a current population of over 400,000 in the metropolitan area. It sits 90 minutes north of Los Angeles and 90 minutes east of the rugged central California coast. The local economy has had a strong rebound due in large part to the oil shale development in the region.

The Chief Financial Officer will provide financial stewardship and direction to the Ministry Organization, St. Agnes Medical Center, Fresno, through effective business leadership, strategy development, internal controls and operating and capital budget development, monitoring and management. The position participates with other senior management to address, interpret, resolve and monitor a broad and diverse range of financial, operational and strategic issues.
