Staff Openings: Publications and Marketing Assistant

Job Title: Program Assistant

Position Description Summary

This employee is responsible for providing assistance to AMIDEAST’s advising and testing programs. Some specific tasks include but are not limited to the following:

Description of Responsibilities

  • Provide support to department’s Director
  • Handle the authentication project tasks
  • Recruit guests for Headquarters-based videoconferences and for online chat sessions; schedule and promote such events in coordination with field office and Headquarters staff
  • Attend meetings with institutional visitors and write brief reports on these meetings, as well as chats and videoconferences as appropriate, for advising center use
  • Send advising-related materials to field offices
  • Answer advising and testing research questions, as assigned
  • Promote and track advertising for AQ Web site; handle advertiser billing and liaison
  • Assist in planning content for print and Web materials. Write and abstract information for advising and testing Web sites and other projects as assigned
  • Track advising statistics and create reports, charts, and other printed materials, as necessary
  • Maintain library and information systems; organize and maintain advising and testing informational files, requesting information as needed, and assist in promoting staff awareness of resources
  • Serve as a back-up test scorer
  • Assist in book ordering and inventory tracking
  • Assume other special activities and responsibilities from time to time
  • Remain current on changes within the industry through publications and continuing education
  • Project a qualified appearance and cooperative attitude, maintains high ethical standards of confidentiality in representing AMIDEAST to ensure a professional representation at all times

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Precise attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure
  • Accurate touch keyboarding
  • Experience and skills in using Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent written and spoken communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new, complex software
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Preferred:

  • One to two year’s relevant full-time work experience
  • Experience with other software, such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, PageMaker, InDesign, Quark, and/or Illustrator on PC platform
  • Strong design skills; design experience
  • Experience or course work in marketing or sales

Physical Requirements

This position requires sitting (50%), standing (15%), and walking (35%). Some additional physical requirements are as follows:

  • Ability to lift 20-25 pounds;
  • Computer responsibilities involving extensive use of keyboard, mouse and monitor;
  • Hours in excess of 40 per week may occasionally be required;
  • Use of telephone and other standard office equipment.
