Online Advertising Sales Manager

This Sales Manager will be responsible for identifying, closing and managing advertising partners. Additionally, this person will work with the online advertising sales team to develop unique ad vehicles and programs that build value for our partners.

GreatSchools has established a successful online advertising business. Some of our advertisers include Chevy, Sylvan, PNC and many others. We are looking to hire an individual who can help drive and support our continued growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advertising & marketing, with exceptional selling skills and a proven record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.

This position reports to the VP of Ad Sales and Business Development.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify and initiate contact with advertising prospects through cold calls, in-person presentations and/or leveraging of existing contact lists
  • Assess customer needs; develop effective sales proposals; negotiate deals; ensure successful delivery of advertising campaigns
  • Manage all communications, scheduling and approvals between the client/agency and operations team throughout the implementation process
  • Collaborate with Engineering on design specifications that synchronize with technical implementation specifications.
  • Maintain accounts and deliver superior customer service for multiple clients
  • Develop campaign performance summaries for clients

Experience/Education/Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years combined related advertising experience
  • Strong track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Knowledge of business and advertising trends and the ability to translate this knowledge into advertising solutions for clients
  • Solid understanding of online advertising and marketing, including pricing structures (CPM, CPC, CPA, CPL) and media types (e.g., banners, skyscrapers, box ads, email newsletters)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly organized and flexible
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with Powerpoint, MS Excel, MS Word and the Web

Experience/Education/Skills Preferred:

  • Experience working in a small business or a start-up environment
  • Ad agency experience is highly desirable

Associate Product Manager

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, data-loving, project management whiz to join our growing team. This position requires previous project management and small team leadership experience, and provides positive exposure to many cross-functional units (data, engineering, UX, design, product management, marketing, editorial, sales, and more) within a mission-driven organization focused on the role of parents in PreK-12 education.

This position reports to the Product Manager for School Choice and Accountability within the Marketing & Research team.

Primary Responsibilities:

School data integration management

  • Manage the quality and timely integration of school data on GreatSchools website.
  • Manage product development, processes, and client support for all data products.
  • Define and drive the data project roadmap for the organization.
  • Develop and maintain rigorous data quality control standards.
  • Be the driving force in the organization behind high standards of data quality.
  • Ensure that thorough Quality Assurance testing is carried out on the display of data and explanations.
  • Consolidate and organize documentation around data project success and cost / benefit analysis.
  • Regularly communicate with Product Manager on upcoming data projects of interest, roadmap conflict issues, and other data product updates.

Data Team management

  • Manage a small team of data associates who research and load school data, provide data customer care, and support other projects.
  • Provide support and leadership to associates to ensure timely and professional customer service interactions on data-related issues.

Manage special data project implementation

  • Provide project estimation, management, and launch support for special data project requests from Business Development and Executive offices.
  • Coordinate special projects with other data roadmap projects and ensure changing priorities are communicated to Product Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Support Product Manager, School Choice & Accountability in creating requirements and driving the development of data-related school choice products.

Identify and oversee improvements to data loading tools

  • Plan and implement continuous automation improvements for data loading processes.
  • Work closely with computer engineers to scope and define requirements for automation and manual loading tools.

Experience/Education/Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math/Statistics or Computer Science preferred
  • 2-4 years of professional experience
  • Strong interest in the education data space
  • Strong aptitude for and experience with project management
  • Demonstrable supervisory experience
  • Demonstrable proficiency with Excel, including formulas, filtering and data formatting
  • Proficiency with MySQL and relational database queries
  • Mastery of Internet navigation and research

Business Analyst

The Business Analyst is responsible for providing key analysis and insights to inform decision making, with a focus on strategic business opportunities. The right candidate loves building business models that measure both financial and social impact.

This position reports to the Director of Research within the Marketing & Research team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess new business opportunities with detailed analysis.
  • Design and build dashboards for reporting org and department level metrics.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and analysis of the environmental landscape.
  • Assist in the development and measurement of social impact metrics related to improving parent involvement in K-12 education.

Experience/Education/Skills Required:

  • BA/BS in math, economics, engineering or other related technical field required. MBA or graduate degree in Public Policy a strong plus
  • Excellent Excel skills; SQL skills and comfort manipulating large data sets a plus
  • Experience in statistical analysis
  • Understanding of web analytics, familiarity with tools like Omniture SiteCatalyst, Google Analytics, etc. strongly desired
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • 3-5 years experience in a business, consulting or technical role
  • Familiarity with qualitative research methods and analysis is a plus

Community Moderator (contract position)

The Community Moderator is both an advocate for the College Bound user community and an evangelist for the program. Offering customer support, soliciting and monitoring user contributions, identifying key trends among users, serving as a conduit for user feedback, supplying program team with content and product ideas, and overseeing all user-generated content are among the key responsibilities of the role.

This is a contract position, working up to 10 hours/week during peak enrollment and activity periods (i.e. August - November and January - May).

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee College Bound users (enrolled and prospective)

  • Creatively and proactively assist; escalating and following up on technical issues where needed
  • Build and maintain knowledge database of helpdesk responses by subject and/or category
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for inbound requests and outbound communications
  • Facilitate engagement with all aspects of the College Bound program
  • Stay current on program, partner and product updates to respond to user questions
  • Serve as key conduit for communicating user feedback internally, to support ongoing program development
  • Make recommendations for new strategies and tactics to College Bound team members that will better engage users

Oversee all user-generated content

  • Facilitate and support the build out of new content
  • Contribute occasional "ask the expert" responses to parent discussion questions and threads
  • Build and maintain Community Moderator knowledge database by subject and/or category
  • Act on reported content and users
  • Enforce community guidelines when necessary
  • Recommend updates to Privacy Policy and Terms of Use as needed
  • Make sure content is in the right place/on topic
  • Communicate hot topics, trends and requested content to College Bound team

Support writing, copyediting and translation of marketing, print, site, and email copy in Spanish

  • Advise and contribute to ongoing development of style, voice and tone that resonates best with users
  • Contribute to College Bound Style Guide

Experience/Education/Skills Required:

The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated experience using or moderating online forums plus customer support experience. Experience in K-12 education is necessary. He or she will also have impeccable written communication skills in English and Spanish.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has 2-3 years of work experience in K-12 education, preferably interacting directly with teachers and parents at the school level
  • Communicates effectively, using a variety of communication styles and mediums - in person, via phone, letter and email - across a wide range of parents with different levels of skill and knowledge
  • Demonstrates an understanding of how parents should support and guide their children's education
  • Is able to engage, motivate and support low-to-moderate SES, low-literacy parents
  • Has a knowledge of internet etiquette and experience using and/or moderating online forums or communities
  • Is familiar with web application development, especially online community applications
